SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Alvin Elroy Overlock, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Overlock was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Hermon, to Gardner and Edith Overlock.
Mr. Overlock lived a large portion of his life in Maine before moving to South Carolina. Mr. Overlock’s longtime occupation was working as a truck driver where he worked for various companies. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jennie Austin Overlock; two sons, Daniel Overlock and Barbara of Pine Mountain, Ga., and Paul Overlock and and Susie of Summerville, S.C.; three daughters, Pamela Horton and Leslie of Gaston, S.C., Jamie Powell and Eric of North Augusta, S.C., and Staci Cheatham and Antonio of Aiken, S.C.; two sisters, Nora Bemis of Bangor, and Grace Savage and Bob of Ritter, S.C.; one brother, Eddie Overlock and Brenda of Stetson; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Charles Overlock.
Visitation for Mr. Overlock will take place 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston, S.C., where funeral services celebrating his life will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Plantation Memorial Gardens, 2847 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, S.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
