HERMON – Helen M. Witherly LaCrosse, 94, died Oct. 20, 2012, at her home. She was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Levant, the daughter of George W. and Gracia (Crosby) Worthing.
Helen worked for several years for and retired from Canteen Service. She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker and was a calm and gentle lady who never spoke negatively of anybody.
Surviving are three children, Galen Witherly and his wife, Barbara, of Hermon, Marlene Libby of Hermon and Anita Lancaster of Deland, Fla.; six grandchildren, David Witherly of Clinton, Mich., Mike Coen and his wife, Jennifer, of Deland, Fla., Daniel Coen of Eustis, Fla., Teresa Gleason and her husband, Greg, of Lamoine, Steve Witherly of Key West, Fla., and Eric Witherly of Tampa Bay, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd Witherly; her second husband, Joseph LaCrosse; a grandson, James Witherly; a son-in-law, Bernard Lancaster; and two sisters, Meryle Hanson and Muriel Patten. She will be remembered by a dear longtime friend, Ann Jones, who helped care for Helen for the last several years. Helen’s family gratefully thanks the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their excellent care.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Snow’s Corner Cemetery, Hermon, with Pastor Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, presiding.
