Comments for: Police release middle initials of johns but still withhold ages, residences

PORTLAND, Maine — Police on Tuesday released middle initials and suffixes of the first 21 names released in the Kennebunk prostitution case but still withheld ages and residences of those charged, and stated that additional names would not be released until the end of next week. Read More

Good, I posted the names earlier and now I cannot find my post…..hopefully the BDN won’t take it out.

Obviously, they are going to remove a post which directly contradicts their stated intentions.

About time, however, when my name was published for a traffic violation, my name, middle initial, age and Town were printed!

    • Anonymous

LOL, when a cop asked for age for a report, I knew would be released, I asked jokingly what would happen if I refused to give my age or lied about it, he quipped back that he would supply a number himself and that I wouldn’t like it. . .!!!

      • Anonymous

All the cop would have to do is look at your DOB on your driver’s license to get your age!!! Right???

        • Anonymous

          …and do the  math himself?

          • Anonymous

Aw, c,mon, give a cop a little break LOL!!!

          • Anonymous

I do!  I support buying them calculators!

          • Anonymous

Does anyone have a bank account that donations could be accepted to purchase  calculators for ANY police dept?? LOL

        • Anonymous

It wasn’t a traffic stop so I didn’t have to show my license and the cop knew how old I was when he asked. We are friends and he had returned a lost dog.

          • Anonymous

For returning a lost pet, he should never have even asked!! What gall!! (Or was he just teasing you, since you said you were friends??)

          • Anonymous

No, the ACO, not the officer had issued me a ticket for a dog at large, so a report had to filed since I received a summons. There was nothing the officer could do, but he did bring my dog home. Because my late husband had allowed the dog to escape while bringing in firewood, I did plead guilty for a reduced fine so it was all good.

Exactly. I dont understand the double standard. I have not looked up the names of these alleged criminals and don’t care to.
       On a second note…..

I dont understand why someone has to pay for sex.To me prositution cheapens….. what is to be special between 2 people.  $$$”for what and how long?” and where” Doesn’t do it for me.

Alexis, have you really considered how this may impact your child?( not to mention other families.)
Do you understand that you have given other single welfare mothers a black eye.( who perhaps are trying to get the skillls they need to become self sufficient. I dont appreciate my tax dollars going to your cause.

“johns” you are not excused either. If single, try dating  , get a divorce, marriage counseling or something. Is paying for sex that gratifying? Please explain…….

      • Anonymous

Oh have no fear, in addition to her legal woes regarding the this, DHHS will have the AG knocking on her door as well.

    • Anonymous

Because they had your name, middle initial, town and age to differentiate you with other every girl who has your name. That’s why it was published.

The attorney has sure made a hash of this affair.
I believe it was Abbey Hoffman ( Chicago 7) that said:
    All lawyers are prostitutes*.

Actually he used a word that starts with a W, but bdn.com
wont allow us to use it.

  • Anonymous

Sounds like some specific individuals are being protected — and we may never know who they are.

    • RJ

Why the drip, drip, drip of names instead of the full list all @ once?  Methinks this is going to cause some add’l complications due to the law of unintended consequences.  They put this stuff out before they have a case ready to prosecute.  There’s an angle to everything & this case appears to be badly mismanaged, from the judge to the prosecution to the defendant to the proverbial sewer.  Meanwhile it is national “news.”  The Zumba exercise routine sounds like a cluster…

      • Anonymous

Is it possible RJ, that someone on film may have paid for zumba and had consensual sex that was filmed?  I think it is, and if I had consensual sex that was filmed without my knowledge, and it resulted in a summons for me for soliciting prostitution when I had not intended to pay for sex, I’d sue the pants off someone!

WOW- from where in blue blazes did you  get these names?? If they are the true ones, then great detective work!! Good for you – if they are the right ones, then everyone should shut up and see what happens next!!!

      • Anonymous

pretty simple really….just go to the kennebunk police dept website…among many other places you can find these names on the net.

        • Anonymous

So, were ages and addresses available there too?? Just curious!!!

          • superdog207

No, just middle initials…. hence the double standard here. I really don’t care about “Who” the john’s are, but it pisses me off that there is a huge double standard. And by the way…. I googled each one and it is fairly easy to identify these men, however, BEFORE the middle initials were published, I googled many of them and the results were pages and pages of their names linked to this national news story……. That is sad! They should have put the full names from the start. FYI, this story is being featured on ” The Talk” TV show on CBS right now at 2:08pm!!!!!!!!

      • Anonymous

Agreed.  The list of alleged perps can be found elsewhere, why repeat it here.  Some people are way too giddy about this.  I don’t give a rat’s behind about the Johns but have consideration for their families.

        • Anonymous

Sorry, I do not agree with you. If the “Johns” had any consideration regarding their families they would NEVER have done this in the first place,– made the choice to hire a prostitute — I don’t know about you, but I have known for years that prostitution and solicitation is illegal in Maine. I feel sorry for their families, but they (the Johns)  brought this whole situation on themselves. I applaud any woman and/or family who will forgive any of the men who were involved – but THAT is their choice too!! And when I got stopped for speeding in 1992, my name, address and age were promptly published, for which I had to answer to my boss.

          • Anonymous

Sorry about the speeding ticket – it is silly to publicize such a minor infraction.  My boss
would just chuckle.  Peoples lives are already ruined so why humiliate the familes any further?   Would it make you feel better if the full names, addresses, places of employment and pictures were posted?   Why not tatoo an A on their foreheads?   I don’t know if I could forgive my husband of 30 years.  I can’t relate.  People are so quick to condemn but how many skeletons do we have in our closets?

          • Anonymous

I think my thoughts were that IF I had to be published for an infraction of the law, then why not them. I am not looking for vengence, just justice that everyone who is charged is named- why should there be any exceptions to the rule, just because you are a bit ashamed of what you did — WELL THESE GUYS SHOULD BE ASHAMED. The moment the story broke each one should have gone to his wife and had a long talk with her – with an EXTENSIVE apology and then there would be no problem when all this stuff hit the fan!!

Also after re-reading my post regarding my speeding ticket, I discovered that I made an error in the date, it was actually 1962, I worked in a Bank in Canada where you could not have ANY mention of your name in a public newspaper, or you could have been dismissed from your job. I worked with a young man who was stopped for speeding on a Friday night and gave the cops a hard time, was arrested, bailed out that same night by his friends and that following Monday was dismissed from the bank, so I had a session with MY boss at that time!!

If law enforcement expect to respected why didn’t they do at least this much on their this much
    first try ?

Don’t they understand the problems of mis- identification of suspects ?

Now, what about their ages, too, Junior ?
Your mother went off on me.

    • If law enforcement expects my respect, they will spend their considerable and costly resources investigating real crimes (like burglary and other property crimes), where they generally just take a report and say “bye-bye, hope you have insurance”.

There are other things that police can do instead of stakeouts and other manpower intensive efforts…, or maybe we have too many cops.  Think about the taxpayer savings if blue law enforcement for drugs and vice were dropped and we could reduce the manpower involved in arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating these individuals.

      • Anonymous

If you and the police want any respect, don’t tell us why supplying  the full names .. with the middle initial, the first time around … places a stain on your limited capacities, okay, Big Guy ? ?

  • Briney

Moderators wiped out many comments.  Yet, contrary to the BDN’s decision to keep the names of the participants private, have permitted commentators to list them.

    • They are also listed in the link within the story

  • Anonymous

Let’s keep in mind that the principals already charged in this matter are accused of, among other things, filming men without their knowledge or consent. Regardless of their crimes, this still makes them victims of an invasion of privacy, which would warrant the withholding of names until they are charged with a crime. I am sure more names will be released but we are going to have to wait for charges to be laid against them. Maybe this a layer of protection for some who do not deserve it, but the police have to be able to prove that these individuals have committed a crime and that they (the police) have sufficient evidence to prove it.

    • Anonymous

Yes, but in order to be filmed, they must first have paid for the service, therefore their alleged crime pre-dates any victim status they may have.

      • Anonymous

Not sure if everyone on the list was filmed, though. We do know some were and maybe all were but the police may not have identified everyone on film to the list. Be patient, it will all come out one way or another.

        • Anonymous

…and, if they were filmed, but there is no evidence of payment, what is the crime?  All you have is two people having sex on film.  No crime in that.

          • Anonymous

…and, even if there is evidence of a payment, there needs to be proof it is payment for sex and not the legitimate zumba exercise.  After all, there is alleged video evidence of Mr. Strong and Ms. Wright engaged in sexual activity that we may presume was merely consensual and legal.  There are a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up before this reaches its explosive climax.

      • Melting Granite

“Yes, but in order to be filmed, they must first have paid for the
service, therefore their alleged crime pre-dates any victim status they
        may have.”

So she could have bound and brutally tortured and abused them, and they would have no rights as victims of a crime because they paid for a little nookie?

I don’t think committing a misdemeanor completely strips an individual of any legal protections.

        • Anonymous

Well she could have done a lot of things. You have proof that she tied them up (against their will) and beat them?
If not, you point is pointless.

    • superdog207

Is it really  invasion of privacy if you’re in the act of commiting a crime???? I mean, BOTH people were in the act of a crime???

      • Anonymous

I doubt it was invasion of privacy in the actual commission of a crime. My point is, while a lot of johns were apparently filmed, I don’t know that all were. And many may have given a false name or worse, someone else’s name, so a name on the list, without actual film of an identified perpetrator, may mean nothing. Then for those who were actually filmed, if there was a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as would have occurred under an understood contract, may mean even the perps are victims and so the release of names will have to be done carefully, so as not to further victimize those who may have been filmed. I would guess this is a very gray area of the law, so everyone will have to proceed carefully.

        • superdog207

My guess is they charged the “john’s” they could identify on film and on her ” extensive” book-keeping….. I agree, it is all a gray  area, however, she did team up with  Strong, a PV, and even those who gave fake names, she was able to identify. You just can’t have a double standard. but this situation was two people doing illegal activity … both knowing the consequenses.  Hey, I think we should legalize it!!! but that is not the point right now, if the woman’s reputation was destroyed ( and it was)….. the men are as much to blame as well.

It appears that if your one of the “Beautiful people” with  status and money the rules can be changed. Must be nice.. My name was blasted all over the media after my last minor motor vehicle infraction. If I was on that list the local constabulary would be hanging me out to dry like a piece of smoked salmon. Of course I’m not on that list because I lack finances and social status..Oh Dear..

  • melibusa

Interesting that with a general election coming November 6th,  there seem to be some serious foot dragging  and delays publishing the identities and town/city of record, of those involved.  Especially when prominent public figures may be involved.

  • Anonymous

By the time I got to the line that tells us the BDN would not release the names because they may coincide with others with the same middle initial, I had already clicked the link the BDN provided in the first line and read them.  It was easier than if it had been on the paper’s next page.  Just by reporting there is a list of names released, you have pretty much let the kitty out of the bag, BDN, but I know you know that.  Still, if you think not showing the names yourself gives you more integrity, go for it!

    • Anonymous

I doubt it is so much about integrity as protecting one’s legal behind.

      • Anonymous

no doubt… still, I wouldn’t want to get into a discussion about what constitutes “release” of information… there is a highlited link that invites “Click me, click me!”, yet the BDN can still claim they are not releasing the names.  It is a strange medium, indeed.

I do not understand why the madam has all kinds of publicity but the johns have all this protection. They broke the law the same as she did. I have never seen anyone I know not have their names, ages and town listed when summonsed by the police. It seems like a case of favoritism for the men in this situation.

So far, with a few min. searching I found that one was a Realtor and appraiser, another owned a Window business, and another was a registered electrician. I ‘d imagine the rest are pretty much the same..small business owners or tradesmen, members of the Elks, grads. from Maine Maritime Academy, etc.

All this garbage! On local TV, National TV, BDN, and who knows what else.  Who cares?  It is between the johns, the cops, and their wives.  Everyone else is just trying to add a little spice to their life and feel like they are better than someone else.  And no, I am not on the list, know nobody on the list, and have never been to Kennebunk.  Let me know if George H.W.B. is on the list and I will listen.

Why isn’t witholding the names of the MEN, who are equally culpable in prostitution, a crime itself?  Seems to me this is a glaring example of legal malfeasance and an illustration of discriminatory protection by presence of testicles!

      A++ post

    • It has been made perfectly clear why the courts ruled that only the names, not age and town, be released.  While all of these men have been charged, they are also potentially victims of a crime.  The alleged prostitute allegedly videotaped them without their knowledge, making them victims of invasion of privacy statutes.  How would you like it if someone secretly videotaped you having sex and then announced it to the world?

  • moog98

This case is BS. There are blogs attempting to expose Alexis from at least 2010 on with links to her various videos.  There is nothing new being discovered here. I found this with minimal effort…like her name in a google search. Theres tons of videos out there with her either stripping, doing a “solo or toy show”, or with single or multiple partners. There is her erotic massage site (under alias Lydia) that was pulled down and some of her videos appear to be from the UK as they charge in pounds to register. Seems like much of this material has been recently removed, however in many cases the advertising pic is still there and you can clearly see that it is Alexis Wright. Total BS case. I’m embarrassed for the lawyers and news media covering this as the info is quite public. Too bad people don’t dare to speak openly about this sort of thing. This could have been cleared up years ago.

Considering the amount of promotion Wright and Strong put into this one could speculate that they pursued these johns.  Maybe the folks that want this sort of thing should speak up or setup a support group. If its so common why promote shame around it. Only makes it more dangerous and more harmful to the community. Maybe they could stand to be better communicators or could use some help with relationships.  Is there some therapy for this?  What are the guys really paying for? Convenience? Danger? Or is it Enthusiasm? It seems to be an era when you can self advocate and be public about most any sexual practice. Will there be a legalize prostitution bill in the next few years? I in no way condone trafficking, human slavery and harm to children. All of that is gross and horrible and seems to go hand in hand with this practice being illegal. I also in no way want to promote addiction which either via drugs or sex tend to be linked to prostitution.

Lets promote recovery and successful/healthy relationships. It seems that the barrier to success here is that the topic is Taboo!
