OLD TOWN, Maine — An Old Town man was arrested and is being held without bail after being charged with domestic violence and two other charges in connection with a family fight late Monday night.

Joseph Lydon, 55, was charged with domestic violence, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and reckless conduct in relation to an incident with an unidentified female at his home.

“Last night at 11:14 p.m., a female victim called to report she had been threatened with a firearm,” said Old Town police Sgt. Scott Casey, who preferred not to provide the age of the female victim or the address to protect her privacy. “She left the residence, but the male suspect remained.”

Officers Christine McAvoy and Jim Fearon responded to the call but initially couldn’t make contact with Lydon. They managed to contact him personally later on during their shift.

Lydon was still at Penobscot County Jail early Tuesday evening and is expected to make an appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center on Wednesday afternoon.
