SACO, Maine — A Saco man wound up cooling off behind bars early Sunday morning after an argument with girlfriend grew heated, police said.

Ryan Michael Park, 30, is facing a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault after he gave the woman a swollen eye, Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland said.

Police were called to the couple’s Therrien Avenue residence around 1:30 a.m., Holland said. At one point, Park grew so heated he punched a hole in a wall at the residence, Holland said.

Even though Park said the woman was the aggressor, police didn’t buy it. Officers arrested him and took him to York County Jail, according to Holland.

The woman did not require medical attention, Holland said. Park remains at the jail Monday morning, where his bail is set at $460.
