I really hate the title of this award. Courage? Really. Is there any other way to face this dreaded disease? Were the people who survived MORE courageous than those who died? Cancer has become so pervasive we all are or have been affected by it. So please if you choose to fight it on your own terms and want to go about your business without all the awards and ribbons don’t feel guilty, your courageous too as you think about your mortality in the wee hours when your all alone and feel sick as dog.

I am trying to understand your post.
I dont see where that was said re: survivors being more courageous than those that have passed from this disease.

“Moving forward, TAMC plans to add to the County Cancer Hall of Courage a section dedicated to honoring those who valiantly fought the battle with the disease but did not make it.”
