VAN BUREN – Michael C. Violette, 56, died Oct. 10, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born July 14, 1956, in Fort Kent, the son of Clarence and Stella (Lapointe) Violette.
Michael was very proud that his dad’s work brought them to many different states, giving him the opportunity to travel and attend different schools. In 1966 his family settled in Westbrook, Conn., where he graduated from Westbrook High School in 1974. Michael earned his Eagle Scout award at the age of 15. He was very active in many sports and activities. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and loved the beach and spending time with his family. Michael also had a very strong faith in his Lord. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1975 and after his military service, attended Rhode Island College.
In addition to his parents of Van Buren, he is survived by two sons, Matthew Violette of Portland and Nicholas Violette of Van Buren; and two brothers, Richard Violette and wife, Kelly, of Westbrook, Conn., and their children, Sarah, Christopher and Jason, and three grandchildren; and Patrick Violette and wife, Stefany, of Madison, Conn., and their children, Joshua, Ashleigh, Kevin and Jacques. He was predeceased by his wife, Pamela (Bashner) Violette, in 2007.
Relatives and friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service with military honors will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
