Helen M. (Lane) McComb Hawkins

LINCOLN – Helen M. (Lane) McComb Hawkins, 99, passed away Oct. 10, 2012, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Lincoln, the daughter of Cyrus H. and Tina (Gerry) Lane.

Helen was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge. Throughout the years she had worked at the Lincolnsfield Worsted Mill, North End Market and as a school crossing guard.

She is survived by two sons, Robert McComb Jr. of Florida and Ronald McComb Sr. of Lincoln; a daughter, Linda and Brent Oliver of Arkansas; a stepson, Tommy and Maggie Hawkins; a stepdaughter, Anne and Alton Smith of Lincoln; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Robert E. McComb Sr.; her second husband, Vernon Hawkins; three brothers, Richard Lane, Bertrand Lane and Frank Lane; and two sisters, Uldine Milner and Lillian Ivey.

Friends may call 1 p.m. until the service 2 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Colonial Healthcare Activities Fund, 36 Workman Terrace, Lincoln, ME 04457.
