BREWER, Maine — Local firefighters and nurses gathered at the Brewer Public Library Thursday to announce their support for Emery Deabay, D-Bucksport, in his bid for the State Senate seat from District 31.

Deabay is running against Edward Youngblood, R-Brewer, in the Nov. 6 elections.

Bangor firefighter Ronnie Green, district vice president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Maine, represented members of his profession during Thursday’s event.

Brewer resident Coralie Giles, who is a nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center, spoke on behalf of her colleagues.

Deabay closed the gathering with comments of his own expressing his gratitude for the support.
