FRANKFORT, Maine — A local man was arrested late Friday night after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and setting fire to curtains in the home where they lived together.

Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that deputies ended up arresting Lucas Perrigo, 29, and charging him with domestic violence, domestic terrorizing and arson.

Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to the home on Loon Lane by the woman’s mother, who called to report an incident of domestic violence at the residence, according to department reports.

Perrigo and the woman with whom he lives began arguing when the woman refused to give him money, Trafton said. Perrigo reportedly pulled the woman off a couch by her hair, along with other, unspecified acts of assault, the chief said.

Perrigo then lit the bedroom curtains on fire, according to police, though he did help the woman extinguish the blaze. He also threatened her, Trafton said.

Perrigo reportedly fled the home before officers arrived, but with the help of dogs, he was located and arrested.
