AUGUSTA, Maine — Govs. Paul LePage of Maine and Steve Beshear of Kentucky on Tuesday ordered that U.S. flag and state flags in their respective states be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in honor of Sgt. 1st Class Aaron A. Henderson of Houlton.
Henderson, 33, a Green Beret serving with U.S. Army A Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group based out of Fort Campbell, Ky., was wounded by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan on Sept. 30. He died at a hospital in Afghanistan on Tuesday, Oct. 2, according to an obituary in the Bangor Daily News.
Public visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the gymnasium at Houlton High School, 7 Bird St. The funeral, with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating, will follow from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment with full military honors is scheduled for 3:30 to 4 p.m. at East Hodgdon Cemetery on the White Settlement Road in Houlton.
