Charlie Summers says military service, single parenting prepared him for Senate

U.S. Senate candidate Charlie Summers says his time serving as a public affairs officer in Afghanistan and Iraq prepared him to serve in Washington. “Any day they’re not shooting at you is a good day,” he said. And, facing the challenge of becoming a widower and single father — and a father again three years ago — keeps him focused on making sure the economic future for the U.S. is bright.
