CONNOR TOWNSHIP – Joyce M. (Reed) Damboise, 77, the wife of Hartley Damboise, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 5, 2012, at a Caribou hospital. She was born June 3, 1935, in Caribou, the daughter of Clyde and Elizabeth (Garslon) Reed.
Joyce was a hard worker. After retiring from Loring Air Force base, she went on to work for the state of Maine Department of Transportation, and retired there after 10 years of service. She then wrote a wilderness cookbook that many people enjoyed from California to Maine.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hartley Damboise; and her five sons and their spouses, Steven and Doris Ann Damboise of Goffstown, N.H., Eugene Damboise of Vero Beach, Fla., Darrell and Karen Damboise of Falmouth, Mark and Kathy Damboise of Connor and Hartley and Diane Damboise II of Caribou. In addition she leaves behind her sisters, Lorraine Estey and Barbara Kelly of Houlton and Irene Macko of Madison, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Keith Reed; and her sister, Josephine Brayll.
Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.
