DAVIDSON, N.C. – Mrs. Mary Ann Morton Mabry, 67, formerly of Guilford, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at the Levine Dickson Hospice Center of Huntersville after a courageous battle against breast cancer. She was the loving wife of Dr. Earl Winters “Wynn” Mabry, retired major general, U.S. Air Force; and daughter of the late Mr. Paul Morton and Mrs. Muriel Brown Morton of Guilford. She was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Guilford.
She was a graduate of Piscataquis Community High School, class of 1963; and Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing at Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., class of 1966. Mary Ann was a devoted Air Force wife and mom of 30 years and lived around the country and abroad before settling 10 years ago in Davidson, N.C., and spending summers in Corea. She will be most remembered for her devotion to her family and friends, her gift of compassion and caring, and her ability to spread joy and laughter. Mary Ann was a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church, where she was a founding and active member of the Cancer Wellness Group.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Wynn; daughter, Elizabeth Mabry Phillips and Dan of Marietta, Ga.; daughter, Juliana Mabry Jones and Bobby of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Maj. Clark Mabry, U.S. Air Force stationed in Florida, and Angel; daughter, Madelynn Mabry Hill and Daniel of Charlotte, N.C.; seven loving grandchildren and extended family. She was predeceased by her sister, Susan Morton Stinson.
A celebration of life will take place 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, 100 North Main St., Davidson, N.C.
