PALERMO, Maine — A local man who reportedly assaulted his wife this week by grabbing her by the throat and choking her has been arrested.

Roger Huff, 46, of Palermo evidently had gotten into an altercation with his wife Tuesday night after he returned quite late from a trip to Waterville in the company of a woman who was living with the couple, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The wife confronted Huff, who allegedly physically attacked her, he said. Investigating police interviewed both Huff and his wife and determined that he was the primary aggressor.

Huff was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked and remained in police custody at Two Bridges Regional Jail on Thursday afternoon, Trafton said.
