UNITY, Maine — State police have arrested Douglas Pagliaroli, 42, of Burnham on a burglary charge in connection with the Sunday morning break-in at Unity Pharmacy.

Pagliaroli was transported to Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast Wednesday afternoon for a medical evaluation after police took him into custody at his Winnecook Road home, according to a state police statement. State police will search Pagliaroli’s home for the prescription drugs believed taken from the pharmacy, the statement indicated.

The suspect was expected to be taken to Waldo County Jail after the evaluation.

Police believe Pagliaroli gained entrance into the pharmacy at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 by cutting a hole in the side of the building. He somehow bypassed the store’s motion alarms for about 20 minutes while he took the drugs.

Pagliaroli was identified by people living in the area and by state police officers after photos taken by a security surveillance camera were made public.
