FORT KENT – Roland Dionne, 83, died peacefully surrounded by several members of the family Oct. 1, 2012 at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Sept. 6, 1929, son of Joseph and Amelia (Dufour) Dionne.
He served with the National Guard for eight years where he worked as a cook. He worked as a mechanic for Etscovitz Chevrolet and later worked for Northland Frozen Foods in maintenance. Roland enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. He always did his own work, jack of all trades.
He is survived by 10 children, Rodney and his wife, Louise, of Fort Kent, Eldon of Soldier Pond, Carlton and his wife, Brenda, of Biddeford, Mark and his wife, Rhonda, of Winterville, Dale and his wife, Lisa, of Fort Kent, Lisa and her husband, Murillo Bouchard, of Fort Kent, Keith and his wife, Janna, of Fort Kent, Donna and her husband, Pat Nadeau, of St. John Plantation, Judy and her husband, Terry Davenport, of Fort Kent, and Kevin of Eagle Lake; 35 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Paul Dionne of Fort Kent; two sisters, Irma Hafford of Waterville and Jeannine of Connecticut. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Viola Goslin Dionne in 1984; one brother, Jean Dionne; and one sister, Carmen Pelletier. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday until time of service at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with full military honors will be in the parish cemetery.
