Chellie Pingree has served two terms in the U.S. House, and served eight years in the Maine State Senate in the ’90s. But before that, she was the tax assessor and school board chair in the small town of North Haven, an experience she says still guides her. She’s called the island of less than 400 year-round residents home for 40 years.
