ROCKLAND, Maine — An 18-year-old Rockland woman suffered broken bones after being struck Friday evening by a pickup truck.

Haley Robinson suffered two breaks in her femur and broke a bone in her wrist, according to an accident report filed by the Rockland Police Department.

Robinson was walking west to east in a crosswalk on Camden Street by the Circle K convenience store near Front Street. At the same time, a Toyota Tacoma driven by Steven Klasson, 47, of China was heading north, according to the police report.

There was heavy rain at the time of the crash, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Klasson said he saw the young woman when she was only 10 feet away and could not avoid striking her.

Robinson tumbled 30 feet or so and skidded on the ground, according to the police report.

Witnesses reported that the motorist was not speeding, according to the report.

No charges will be filed.
