ROCKLAND, Maine — The Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce has named Staci Coomer as its new executive director. Coomer will start Oct. 10.

Coomer moved to the region in 2005, according to the Chamber’s announcement, when she became vice president of development for Pen Bay Healthcare in Rockport. Previously, she had worked in health care development for organizations in the Midwest.

Coomer is a graduate of Iowa State University and holds the professional designation of certified fundraising executive. She also is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Mid-Coast Leadership Academy.

Personal matters required Coomer to return to Michigan in 2008, the Chamber announcement stated, but she did not sell her and her family’s Rockport home. The family returned to the area recently.

Coomer’s expertise, Chamber Board Vice President June Parent said, will be invaluable as the organization builds following its merger with the Camden Chamber. Coomer will help “further the Chamber’s new role in the region as well as [help develop] a regional brand.”
