BATH, Maine — A home-health nurse from Phippsburg has been arrested and charged with two felonies in connection with the theft of jewelry from a client’s home, according to the Bath Police Department.
Stephanie A. Walker was arrested Tuesday on a warrant at the Bath Police Station. Walker is charged with Class C theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and Class C receiving stolen property, both felonies.
In July of this year, Bath police received a complaint from a Bath resident that thousands of dollars of jewelry had been taken from the residence over a period of time during which a family member in the home was receiving home nursing care from a company that employed Walker.
Bath Detective Sgt. Robert Savary determined that some of the stolen jewelry was sold by Walker to a local gold and silver exchange company, according to a press release.
After her arrest, Walker was released on unsecured bail with conditions of release that include no contact with the alleged victim. She is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court at 1 p.m. Dec. 11. Each felony charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
