Comments for: An open letter to Mitt Romney

Posted Sept. 25, 2012, at 1:58 p.m.

Dear Gov. Mitt Romney, Please forgive my boldness in addressing you directly in this public fashion. We’ve never met. I’ve never held or run for public office, and my only political activity has been to contribute to campaigns and vote. We share, however, some basic convictions centered around the value …

    What a load of malarky.

    • Anonymous

      Agreed.

The first malarky indicator is the repeated Right Wing myth about what a “monstrosity” the Afordable Care Act is.

      Here it is:

      http://housedocs.house.gov/energycommerce/ppacacon.pdf

Download it and read it youself.

As you can see, it is long but not 2700 pages long.  Like all legislative documents I’ve seen, the margin spacing makes the bill twice as long as a regularly spaced document would be, and much of it is indexes and references to the previous law that it is amending with overly large print.

So, if printed in standard format and indexing was removed, I’d say it’s 975 pages would, in actuality, be what most would call 300 pages long.

The fact that the 2700 pages monstosity lie can so easily be proven false speaks volumes about this writer’s disregard for the truth.

“And what has the Obama administration done to address this? Nothing, except to double our annual deficits. His Simpson-Bowles commission report on ways to reduce the deficit is ignored”

Remember that the Republicans and Romney have flat out rejected any revenue increases as recommended by the Bowles commission- and it’s all Obama’s fault??

  • Given how Mitt screwed the pooch on his trip to Europe, Mitt and Ryan should be the last one’s to make any statement regarding foreign policy. When they put on the uniform, grab a rifle out of the rack, hump a rucksack and get on the plane for the ride to Afghanistan, then, maybe, they will finally begin to understand just what their ‘Open mouth and insert foot and chew vigourously’ comment’s might cause. Until then, please, do us all a favor and until you’ve been there, been shot at, and managed to get back, go sit in your corner and play with your dolls and stethoscope’s. Ask those folk’s who were in the 126th Air Ambulance about what a mouth that has no idea what it’s saying can do to a Unit’s morale and effectiveness. Mitt’s mouth is out and unsupervised and Ryan’s is right behind, in more ways than one. One has to wonder when the GOP-leaning media is going to be heard and Mitt’s Campaign Manager is going to start listening. Peggy Noonan and Dave Brooks are not out writing for their health !

And as far as the ACA goes, Public Option, and the end of the Health Insurance industry scam’s, is finally being seen. That means that Doctor’s are going to go back to being Doctor’s, not a hack of some insurance carrier’s Most Favorite Son or Daughter list. I for one, and I’d bet more than a few other’s, including a good number of Doctor’s and PA’s, can’t wait for that day when Patient First, not Carrier Allowance’s First, is being practiced again. It’s also the day that this Managed Care crap goes in the toilet and sent where it back to where it came from. Patient care, not Profit care, is coming back !

I wept after I read your emotional and inspirational words. I thought of the president with his rucksack and rifle bravely getting on the plane to Afghanistan and chewing vigorously, playing with dolls, and screwing pooches, and I can only pray that as a nation, we hasten our inevitable march to the pubic option.

Take this letter whence it comes. Retired oncologist is to be read as 1%er. He has confidence in Romney to keep him there. Romney has given no clue of how he would repair the economy other than to bring back trickle-down theory which as we know just doesn’t work. It is actually counterproductive when it comes economic recovery. As usual, the Republicans talk about tax breaks for all which really means massive tax breaks for the wealthy and a bone for the middle class that doesn’t have any meat on it. Their rhetoric is designed to make the middle class think that bone is a real feast.

    • Anonymous

Romney’s latest ads mention “increasing take home pay” which to me is Romney speak for reduce taxes.  Unfortunately too many people will listen to that and hear “increase wages” … which we all know he will not do or he’d lose corporate America.

  • He lost me at the Marxism line!

    LOOOONNNYYYY TUUUNNNEEEESSS!

The Affordable Healthcare Act gave { Private Insurance Companies} New Customers!

    Mitt Romney gave Communist China!

    OUR JOBS!

    {Marxist} LOL

This is your Brain On Drugs!

    Any Questions?

    • Anonymous

You should read Obama’s own words where he talks about his Marxist teachers and friends.

Never let facst get in the way of your rants.

You should provide a link with your accusations.

Are you too lazy to read his books?

I admit I needed to keep a barf bag handy, but at least I read them.  That seems to be more than most liberals actually did.

          • Anonymous

Which books do you suggest I read so that I can be as informed as you?

          • Anonymous

I guess you need a tutorial in how to look up information.

            1.  Open a new tab in your browser.

            2.  Go to a search engine page.  Most browsers automatically go to one unless you changed settings.

            3.  Type in the following words:  “books written by Obama”.

            4.  Click on the search button.

            Then check out this link.

            http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/19/new-book-raises-questions-about-obamas-memoir/

You might then actually read about how Obama’s autobiography is not entirely accurate.  Pack of lies would be more accurate, but hey, if you haven’t even read the autobiography then I doubt you will read any substantive reviews or books about the real Obama.

          • Anonymous

You want me look up which books to read because you haven’t read any and can’t even suggest one single title that I should read.  Just what I thought.

          • Anonymous

Thank you for pointing out your inability to do basic research for yourself, read, support positions, or in general do anything for yourself.

But keep on being proud of yourself.

“Dreams From My Father” is a well-written memoir, which I read before the 2008 election. I’m a little tired of politicians born on third base, unfamiliar with any culture but their own. Obama’s international experience brings much-needed perspective to the Oval Office.

Thanks for this link. I read a recent piece on the Maraniss book in The New Yorker. Quite frankly, it sounds like Mr. Maraniss had more of an agenda in this effort than Obama did while wrting DFMF.
That parts of the memoir are fictionalized hardly makes it a “pack of lies.” All memoirists do this, to protect the privacy of their subjects and to explore larger truths than whether or not every event happened at the exact time or place as recollected. A good undergraduate course in creative writing would have taught you this.
I, for one, am glad Obama is not as small-minded as many of his critics seem to be.

          • Anonymous

An autobiography should at least be based on facts. Otherwise it should be categorized as fiction. The problem with DFMF is the amount of fictionalization. It does indicate a highly narcissistic individual with some very warped ideas.

          • Anonymous

            1. It’s a memoir, not an autobiography.
            2. It is “based on” facts. That it is not accurate in every minor detail is not news.
            3. Warped is in the eye of the beholder. I found it engaging.

          • Anonymous

Wouldn’t it be more informative to actually read the book instead of relying on a review?  Especially a review from a biased source?

          • Anonymous

            1. Yes, it would, and perhaps I will.
            2. I read the New Yorker for the quality of the writing, not any political agenda. An informed viewpoint is not the same thing as a bias.

More delusional nonsense from the delusional right wing.  I can’t wait until the MittTwit gets royally spanked on election day.  So fun watching him and so many other TeaPublicans plummeting in the  polls.  People are done with the TeaPublican snake oil.

          • Anonymous

The usual venom from the left.

          • Be careful Hank. You are what the GOP fears the most, an educated voter ! Now if the rest of the Country could get educated. After all, isin’t that part of the educational process ? Or is education limited only to those who are deemed worthy, like back in the Ole South ?

          • Anonymous

Your buffoon buddy the MittTwit is the ultra lazy one.  He’s a silver spooned spoiled brat richy rich boy who hides his money in the Caymans.  So keep on drinking the Rush Limpmind Idiocy Hour cool aid.  Come November 6th, the MittTwit is going to get spanked at the polls and hard.

This response makes you an adult?

Conservatives have been screaming for “balance” in BDN commentaries. Is this the best that the rabid right can come up with?

You were right.  Someone got their panties in a bunch!

LOL!  “Rabid Right”  LOL!  Take a good look at any of the political commentary in the BDN comments sections and you’ll see “rabid” coming from both parties.

Thank you, Dr. Boone and keep up the good fight. The 47% moonbats will clearly not understand, but it is generous and charitable to keep trying to help them learn.

But, as we found out from Howard Stern of all people, it may be a lost cause at this point.

Who cares what the moonbats Howard Sterns an people like him say

    • Anonymous

Do not call people who have paid taxes for many years like myself and do not happen to be earning enough SS etc. to pay taxes.
If you want to find some moonbats I suggest you poll the right wing and find those who still do not believe Obama was born in the USA or that he is a Christen, you’ll be surprised at the number who live under a rock and refuse to believe the truth.

  • Anonymous

It seems Dr. Boone has all the answers. Perhaps it is he instead of Mr. Romney who should be running for office.

    • Anonymous

      Please, not another clown.

  • Anonymous

Poor Mr. Boone doesn’t realize Mitt is the Pied Piper of corporatism and has turned so far right one more step and he”ll be right off the cliff. Better watch out for that sudden stop at the bottom … it’s a killah.

  • open letter to romney??? I think  romney wrote the “open letter”  this is my open letter to romney.   If you win the ellection I will join your church and I will ask you to send my 3 boys to missions in europe , because I think you and netanyahu want another war, this time with iran,  where are going to get money for another war?  another credit car ??

    • A bit simple but your dead on track Patty. Romney and Ryan can’t wait to pull the trigger on Iran. That somehow this is an almost complete repeat and return to the foreign policy of Bush 2 is either being ignored, or worse, the public is being lead around by the nose thru the use of global fear, is nothing less that showing complete disrespect for the voter’s. And what’s also being so conveiniently forgotten is another point you make, that being how’s he gonna pay for it ? It’s amazing how the GOP cries fiscal conservative EXCEPT when they want to go to war. Bush went and look at where he got us. Add to that the Medicare Part D and the refusal to control the financial services industry and now we have a mess bigger than Europe after WW 2. If Romney’s so gung-ho to go, fine. Just put it, in writing and sign it, how he’s gonna do it without wrecking the Country’s economy and I’ll be the 1st to grab a ruck and a M-4. And he had dammed well better be on the plane before I get there. He want’s to go so badly, he had dammed well better put his keester on the line and show leadership, not mouth. We got enough of that coming out of Ryan. The Boy Wonder is clueless about what he saying and is actually the Democrat’s best spokesman for the ACA.

Well done, Dr. Boone, well done.

The Collective apparently takes umbrage at roadblocks thrown up against their Great Leap Forward.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Preston Nethercutt

Seeing as how you are doctor, might I suggest that you self-prescribe a  little something that might snap you out of your paranoid delusions? For a well educated man, you make some appallingly ignorant comments.

  • Anonymous

Boldly and accurately stated. Well done, Dr. Boone!

  • Anonymous

    Ummm. He’s right.

  • Anonymous

I think it’s hilarious how the truth gets the left all wound up. Everything that Mr. Boone wrote is the absolute truth. And reading through the libs responses proves that over and over because they can’t refute anything he’s written.

  • This “opinion” is so riddled with lies & misconceptions I don’t know where to begin. It is unfortunate that Americans are so misinformed. Do they have libraries in Maine, or just radical Islamist hate factories? You are making a bad name for your state by simply writing a lopsided editorial that lacks facts. It is to steer anyone on the fence away from voting for Obama. If you read the article, take it with a grain of salt. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but they are not entitled to tell you how to vote! For God sakes, turn off Fox News it’is hazardous to your health and the tranquility of America!

    • Anonymous

Dr. Boone’s comments are directly on the mark. It’s really a shame that so many people in this country believe the lies coming out of the White House.

  • Anonymous

And Mr. Romney, when you’re giving us your plan to lower the deficit, please explain how a $5 trillion dollar tax cut helps balance the budget and curtail this runaway deficit.

    • tag

Since when do deficits matter to liberals? Perhaps you can explain how Obama’s plan to raise taxes and increase spending would help balance the budget and curtail the deficit? (Against all historical evidence.)

By the way, the middle class tax cuts promised by Romney are not intended to cut the deficit, they are intended to create jobs and spur economic growth. Something Obama has failed to do. In time, this would increase revenue to the government, just like the Bush tax cuts and Reagan tax cuts and JFK tax cuts did.

What a pile of Bulloney. People who believe this crap must be living in an alternate universe to be this far out there!!

I hope he was a better doctor than writer of (facts?) otherwise know as right wing lies.

This is such a great letter. It’s factual and sums up very well – the disaster we have in the White House.

  • Anonymous

Oh Mr. Boone, so many words, so much utter hogwash.  You should be a guest on the Rush Limpmind Idiocy Show, or a standup buffoon on FAKE-News.  Come November 6th, your bought-and-paid for Koch Brother pawn corporate toadie cardboard phony MittTwit RobMe is going to get thoroughly spanked at the polls, and deservedly so.  So kindly go sell your snake oil elsewhere.  Mainers aren’t buying it.
