Maine Judicial Branch uses Twitter to announce decisions

PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine courts system has joined the world of Twitter.

The Maine Judicial Branch began sending out tweets this month announcing court decisions and other news coming out of the court system.

Spokeswoman Mary Ann Lynch says Twitter will be used to alert people to information put up on the Judicial Branch website. That includes things such as court orders, Supreme Judicial Court decisions, new court rules and administrative orders.

She says anybody can receive the tweets, but she expects the service will be used primarily by lawyers and members of the media.
