Bangor seeks volunteer input, involvement on Main Street corridor project

By Andrew Neff, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine – As Bangor municipal officials move forward with the city’s planned revitalization of the neighborhood bordered by Main, Third, Union and Buck streets, they are requesting resident volunteers and input.

Bangor residents are needed to serve on an ad hoc committee to work with the consultant and city staff members, the city said in a press release. The goal is to find homeowners, businesspeople, nonprofit representatives and residents who are interested in participating in creating the plan to revitalize the neighborhood. The group will meet three or four times and will also go on a daylong walking tour of the area in October.

The city also will hold full neighborhood meetings to keep all stakeholders informed throughout the process.

This new committee will be a working one and requires members who will have the time to commit to the process of meetings. Representatives from the revitalization project area are asked to contact Rosie Vanadestine, Bangor’s director of community and economic development, by email at rosie.vanadestine@bangormaine.gov or by calling 992-4241 to submit their name for consideration.
