Red Cross seeks nominees for Real Heroes Award

The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross is searching for ordinary individuals who have demonstrated acts of heroism.

The chapter will honor those who have shown courage, kindness and unselfish character at the 16th annual Real Heroes Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Jeff’s Catering Center in Brewer.

An advisory committee of community leaders will select the Real Heroes from nominations submitted.

Nominees must live, study or be employed in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, Waldo, Knox, Hancock or Somerset counties. They must have performed a heroic act between July 1, 2011, and Sept. 15, 2012. An attached nomination statement should describe clearly and in as much detail as possible the incident that deserves consideration of a Real Heroes Award. Nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.
