Comments for: Fire destroys County couple’s home; sole possession spared is urn holding daughter’s ashes

Adding insult to injury. Loose a daughter and everything you own in that short of a time frame has got to be rough. At least this couple still have each other.

I hope they have a nice annivesary. They’ve been through a lot together

Me too. I wonder how many being married today will be able to do that 60 years hence.

If they had been home asleep on a frigid winter night with the wind blowing 25mph there could have been a much worse outcome. I’m sure they have weathered a few storms in their 60 year marriage. They have each other and family-that’s what counts.

    How sad.

  • Brian Leeman

There is absolutely nothing sadder than a fire that wipes out every keepsake and reminder of 60 years together on this planet (other than a small urn of ashes from a courageous daughter that lost a difficult battle with cancer). My heart goes out to you both. You have each other, thankfully; but how cruel life can be. Bless you and your family.

God bless you. Tears in my soul.

I am so sorry for your losses.  I cannot imagine having to push through tragedies like these in such close proximity.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tragic fire, even more tragic loss of a daughter …..yet these folks are married 60 years and still work hard together at near 80.  They will survive with their spirit for they are truly a part of the Greatest Generation.

I want to watch for a fund raising for this couple. Hope BDN follows this.

Cremation urns are fireproof…….as well as element proof. (Unless you’re trying to funny…if so, this is not a situation to be jokey about)
