AUGUSTA – Nancy L. Soule, 87, of Cony Street, and formerly of Bangor, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born July 26, 1925, in Pittsfield, daughter of Ivan and Constance (Goodwin) Brooks.
Nancy was educated in Pittsfield area schools and graduated from Maine Central Institute. After her marriage to Harland E. Soule, in 1947, she made her home in Bangor for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker for most of her life who enjoyed knitting sweaters for family members, doing crossword puzzles and listening to opera music. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. One of her greatest joys came when she spent time with her family. Her favorite saying was “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” by Dr. Seuss.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harland E. Soule, in 2002; and brother, Bruce Brooks. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki L. Hanson and husband, Norman, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jeanne S. Rocque and husband, David, of Augusta; brother, William L. Brooks of Skowhegan; sister, Jeanne Landry of Cherry Hill, N.J.; three grandchildren, Melissa Tibbetts, Michael Rocque and wife, Andrea, and Susan Arbour and husband, Jason; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at The Inn at City Hall, 1 Cony St., Augusta. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Inn at City Hall Activities Fund, 1 Cony St., Augusta, ME 04330.
