Workshop brings women closer to outdoors

WINSLOW, Maine — A workshop this weekend in Winslow, Maine, teaches women to be more competent, confident and aware when enjoying the outdoors.

The state fish and game department says more than 100 women from Maine and elsewhere are headed to Camp Caribou for the 16th annual Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop.

The workshop, taught by volunteers, runs through Sunday afternoon.

Participants will take part in a classes based on their interests, including ATV riding, campfire cooking, canoeing, kayaking, nature photography, marksmanship, fly tying, outdoor survival, self-defense, archery, outdoor writing and blogging, knot tying and more.
