ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine women’s soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with Fairfield on Friday.
Maine (3-3-1) was led by Nikki Misener who posted four shots, two of which were on goal. Eve L’Abbe recorded three shots on the day followed by Jordan Pellerin and Charlene Achille with two shots each.
Nikki Stanton who recorded three shots on the afternoon led Fairfield (3-2-2). Stephanie Sutherby posted two shots, with one of them on goal.
The Black Bears were anchored in goal by freshman Lauren Swant who played all 110 minutes of the game. Swant recorded three saves, her last save coming with 2:45 left in the second overtime.
The Stags had Veronica Saez in net. Saez had nine saves on the afternoon.
Maine held a 17-11 edge in shots while also holding the edge in corners 9-3.

WATERVILLE — New England College (1-4) eked out a 2-1 victory over Thomas (0-4) Friday night in a North Atlantic Conference game.
Michelle Greene picked up her first collegiate goal for the Terriers.
NEC’s Kate Roberge of NEC got the first goal of the contest seven minutes into the game as she shot from just inside the box, deflecting off of Thomas netminder Jasmine Bishop’s pads.
Green answered 37 seconds into the second half, but Rachel Huntwould scored the eventual game winner at the 38:42 mark, with an assist from Roberge.
NEC outshot Thomas 19-12.
