ROCKLAND, Maine — A 15-year-old was apprehended this week for allegedly attempting to set fires at two homes in the city.
The juvenile has not been charged, according to Rockland Deputy Police Chief Wally Tower. Tower said that decision would rest with the state fire marshal’s office, which worked on the case along with the police department’s detectives.
The police chief said the attempted arsons were reported Tuesday but that he was not sure when they had occurred. He said the fires were minor and did not require action from the fire department.
He said he was not at liberty to state an apparent motive for the teen’s actions.
