WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville transient who is no stranger to law enforcement was arrested after causing a scene at Walmart on Wednesday, police said.

Robert Goddu, 48, is facing charges of disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest, Waterville Police Chief Joseph Massey said.

Goddu was swearing at customers and store personnel without his shirt on and refusing to leave, Massey said. When police tried to get him to leave, Goddu kept resisting and was arrested.

Even though Goddu struggled with police, they managed to get him to the ground and get the handcuffs on, Massey said.

Massey said this is not Goddu’s first encounter with police.

“We’ve dealt with him before,” he said. “We’ve had disorderly conduct wtih him in the past.”

Goddu was booked into the Kennebec County Jail and later released on bail.
