EAST MILLINOCKET, Maine — It’s been more than 30 years since a 25-year-old Mike Michaud was elected to the Maine Legislature in 1980. He spent a quarter century in Augusta, eventually rising to Maine Senate President. Now, at 57, after spending a decade in the U.S. House representing Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, he’s running for a sixth term. Recently, during a brief rainstorm, Michaud sat down with the BDN to speak about how his time in Maine’s legislature shaped his views on politics.
