GUILFORD – Wanda W. Adkins, 80, died Sept. 8, 2012, at Tissues Country Estate, Athens. She was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Houlton, the daughter of John and Marion (Noble) Way.
She graduated from Houlton High School, class of 1950, and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Arizona, in 1961. She worked as a private duty nurse in Arizona and later in New York. After the death of her husband, Lester Lewis Sewall Jr., she later married Winston P. “Bill” Adkins and moved to Maine. Wanda was a member of Guilford United Methodist Church, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a spiritualist, loved music, taught piano lessons and enjoyed caring for her family. She loved people and was known for her sunny disposition and good sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband of Kingsbury; a son, Brian Sewall and his wife, Charlotte, of Oklahoma; two daughters, Tylene (Sewall) Kimball and her husband, Robert, of Sangerville and Leslyn (Sewall) Herrick and her husband, Wynne, of Abbot; a stepdaughter, Leslie Bitely and her husband, James, of Abbot; five grandsons, Brian Sewall, Kirk and Kamron Kimball, and Travis and Zachary Herrick; 14 great-grandchildren, Brian, Ricky, Taran, Alexis and Alex Sewall, Halle, Kendall, Khloe and Sophie Kimball, Addyson and Avery Herrick, Cody Tetlow, Cadence and Zachary Herrick; one great-great-granddaughter, Dea Sewall; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Jack, George and Billy; and a special great-aunt, Minnie Noble. The family thanks the staff at Tissues for their wonderful care.
Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with Pastor Sam McKeen officiating.
