CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Maine — An Embden man is dead after crashing his truck on the Kennebec River Road early Sunday morning.
Speed and alcohol may have been factors in the single-vehicle accident that killed Samuel White, 21, of Embden, according to a news release issued Sunday afternoon by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
White had been driving a 2000 GMC truck south when he failed to negotiate a curve and the truck crossed into the northbound lane, rolled over and landed on its roof in a ditch, according to Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi. The accident was reported to police at 12:52 a.m., and when emergency crews arrived, they found that White had died at the scene.
The accident continues to be under investigation, Gottardi said in the news release.
The Bingham Fire Department and Upper Kennebec Valley Ambulance Service also assisted at the crash scene.
