BANGOR – Jesse L. Pickrell, 89, died unexpectedly Sept. 6, 2012, at his home. He was born March 3, 1923, in Newport, R.I., the son of Jesse L. and Elizabeth (Syme) Pickrell.
Jesse graduated from high school in Springfield, Mass., class of 1941. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, receiving the following awards: World War II Victory Medal, Purple Heart, American Area Ribbon and Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon. Jesse worked at the Springfield Armory, Springfield, Mass., and he worked as a machinist. He liked sports, watching Little League games, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Jesse was a very loving husband, dad, grandfather and friend.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann (Burke) Pickrell; one son, Robert Pickrell of Massachusetts; two daughters, Diane Pickrell of Ohio and Joanne McDade of Bangor; two grandchildren, Tyler and Alex McDade, both of Bangor; one sister, Elizabeth Quill of Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and James Pickrell; and one sister, Isabelle Murphy.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
