AUGUSTA, Maine — A man and woman from Pennsylvania who were seriously injured in a three-car accident in Farmingdale on Tuesday are wanted on robbery charges in their home state, police said.
Justin Nauman, 30, and Kristie Kraft, 21, both remain in hospitals in Portland and Lewiston, respectively, according to Capt. Dan Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
However, the day following the accident, Maine authorities garnered information from police in Lancaster, Pa., that the pair were involved in a Keystone State robbery in which a woman was injured.
According to Lancaster Online, the duo stole a purse from a woman at a supermarket and dragged her across the parking lot with their car.
The woman had chased the suspects through the lot to their vehicle, according to the newspaper, attempted to get her purse back when the suspects fled, dragging the woman.
Nauman was driving on Route 201 at a high rate of speed on Tuesday when his vehicle struck an SUV head-on. Kraft was a passenger in Nauman’s vehicle. A third vehicle couldn’t stop in time and rear-ended the SUV. The other drivers weren’t seriously injured.
The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office and police in Pennsylvania are working together on the investigation, according to Davies.
Attempts to reach Lt. George Pappas with the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police were unsuccessful Friday afternoon.
