At least Rev. was not used in this article in reference to Carlson.  But, if he was a clergyman for Husson, then why would he not be reported to someone because of the accusations?  Seems that  he would not have been an upright person to provide spiritual comfort to the students.

It is disheartening to see that the same pattern of silence and covering up that allowed Carlson to hurt kids is still in place and protecting his enablers.  Ross & Beardsley haven’t fully explained themselves in any substantive way. It seems long past time for them to do so.

If you have committed a crime, ambiguity is on your side. The police seem not only to be surprisingly comfortable with “ambiguity”and secrecy in this situation (and so does Beardsley), but also are unwilling to seek clarity.

Are we seeing a Penn State unfold before our eyes here?

I actually think this is worse, because Penn State was investigated, the facts were made public and people were charged with crimes.  This seems like it’s just going to fade away.

Better to let sleeping dogs lay.

The damage is done, and the perp is in the long process of getting his just rewards.

All this hand wringing is only making innocent people pay the same price that Carlson extracted from his victims.

No it doesn’t end with Carlson, everyone who covered up, everyone who was obligated to report suspicion of  child abuse,  etc etc, should be held accountable,  if not victims are less likely to report a crime, feeling nobody is going to do anything or believe them anyway.    Carlson was a dam pedophile , and  those who suspected and did nothing are not any better then he was.

YowsaYowsaYowsa, it is still worth warning people to question authority and especially a certain sort of arrogant authoritarian BMOC, who are hanger ons  around the real authorities.

Beardsley is not respected by many who have worked for him.  He has lost his option for the benefit of the doubt.

These political types have such disdain for the rest of us.  Trying to play silly games with the citizens of Maine…What’s wrong with a bit of truth.

Renee when do you plan on doing a story about our esteemed Sheriff Glen Ross who after promising State Police Detectives to keep quiet about the Carlson investigation immediately called him and told him he was being investigated. It would be interesting to hear how the top law enforcement officer in Penobscot County had no idea that Carlson was a pedophile especially in light of the fact that three law enforcement officers have stated publically that they thought Carlson was dirty. Did Sheriff Glen Ross put his friendship with Carlson ahead of the well-being of children in Penobscot County?

The whole Carlson sordid story just makes me feel sick.  The fact that Sheriff Glen Ross and Beardsley still haven’t had the guts to be truthful and honestly face the music for their parts in this “cover-up” speaks volumes to the men that they really are. Not impressed people…no, not impressed at all.  Great column Renee!

Ms. Ordway- I wasn’t aware that one needed to have ‘credentials’ to report possible abuse or neglect….does this mean the victims of Carlson (along with Carlson’s silent enablers; Beardsley et al ) need to have credentials in order to be victims as well?

Interesting don’t you think that it took Beardsley 10 months to chat with the police….so how concerned was Beardsley really about any possible victims?  He wasn’t. He was concerned about covering his own rear end and nothing more.

Something perhaps we can all learn from Carlson and Beardsley- Just because a person comes with a ‘shiny’ exterior package doesn’t mean that their interior isn’t filled with anything more than manure.

  • Here’s what I know being the former Director of Security at Husson College.  I reported directly to Chief Operating Officer of the college who was also the General Council for the same.  All of a sudden, I am now reporting to Rev. Bob Carlson who is now my new boss.  After six months of his crap, I quit…!!!!

  • So now here come the enraged citizens with their torches and pitchforks.  Carlson is dead, but the masses will make someone pay for something.

Kid’s Peace (still alive and kicking) hid the rape of one of their clients by another of their clients by paying the parent of the first client to go away.  The Lawrence case was never solved because the principals covered up, and there was no scream from enraged citizens about that.

Seems to me (I’ve been reporting child abuse for a number of years) that if you report in Maine, it is a spin of the wheel whether you simply lose your job, become a pariah, or get results.

I surely understand a man’s reluctance to “report” in a case like this.  Everyone knows now that something might have been wrong with Carlson, but back in the day, he was a golden boy.  untouchable by scandle because no one would have believed “just one report”

So dunn the folks who could have reported for their lack of bravery, but cowardice is not illegal.

Way past time to move on.

  • that’s just what was said from Penn state officials, husson must have a copy of that same broken record.

There are so many people who covered this up. It amazes me, still, how much has come out since last November. Carlsen may be dead, but those who covered it up need to pay for doing so. It’s bull that this man was held on an untouchable pedastal for so long. It’s a sick, sick world in which the protection of children runs second to ANYTHING.

Hats off to Renee Ordway for trying to make sense of a plate of “not my fault”…..

Hats off to Renee Ordway for trying to make sense of a bunch of “not my fault”….when several leaders
ignored the truth and hid it in the bushes………of course Beardsley knew………….

  • Oh guess what, My comment is being flagged.  I guess that is for small time politics in the Bangor area.  Boy after this, i have much more to say…!!!
