GREENBUSH, Maine — A man has been arrested after a camp under renovation on the County Road was burglarized last month and a number of building materials were taken.

Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Patty McLaughlin, who began her investigation on Aug. 22, discovered that “boards, flooring, a stand-up shower [were] taken from inside” the camp, Troy Morton, deputy chief for Penobscot County, said Tuesday. “It wasn’t nailed down — it was all new stuff” that was to be installed.

McLaughlin’s investigation led her to Leonard Wells Jr. 53, of Greenbush, who reportedly was using some of the stolen building materials, Morton said.

Wells was arrested for felony burglary and theft by unauthorized taking and brought to the Penobscot County Jail. He could spend up to five years in prison if convicted of either charge.
