Marie A. Melvin

DEXTER – Marie Melvin, wife of the late Alfred “Hoppy” Melvin, died Aug. 29, 2012, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born May 22, 1941, in Portsmouth, N.H., a daughter of Vallair and Violet (Brown) Goulette.

Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was one year old. She was adopted by Frank Godreau and moved to Dexter, where she graduated from Dexter High School. She was a communicant of St. Anne’s Church and worked as an education technician for the Dexter school system. Marie was “special” to many special needs children. She also enjoyed camping in her early years with her husband, Hoppy; and family.

Marie is survived by two sons, Mark Melvin and Heather Gudroe of Dexter, and Ricky Melvin and Donna Gray of Sangerville; daughter, Tammy and husband, Tod Tibbetts, of Dexter; brother, Ronald and wife, Nancy Goulette, of Dexter; two sisters, Charlene and husband, Forrest Webber, of Garland, and Patricia and husband, Paul Avery, of Bristol, N.H.; three grandchildren, Heather and husband, Scott Dobson, and Abbie and Macie Melvin; four great-grandchildren, Darci, Owen, Sophia and Steven; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion, Larry Clark.

Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating.
