Two accused of stealing drugs out of Rockland apartment

ROCKLAND, Maine — One of two men accused of breaking into a home and stealing prescription medications appeared in court Friday.

Frederick F. Hannan, 27, of Rockland made an initial court appearance Friday in Rockland District Court on charges of criminal trespass, theft, and violating a condition of release.

According to an affidavit written by Rockland Police Officer Andrew Crook and filed in court, the incident occurred Aug. 21 at an apartment on Bunker Street. Police were called shortly after 6 p.m. that day about a possible fight at the apartment where the break-in allegedly occurred.

When officers arrived, the two residents said that they had arrived home to find Hannan and Jeremy Luszczki, 30, listed as a transient, in their home. The male resident of the apartment got into an altercation with two suspects as he interrupted the break-in, according to the affidavit. Hannan and Luszczki fled the home, according to the police report.

The resident reported that a bottle with Xanax pills was missing.

Luszczki was picked up by police later that evening walking on Cedar Street. He was in the cruiser with Crook when the two residents of the apartment and the male resident’s father drove by and identified Luszczki as one of the two men who broke into the apartment. At this point, Luszczki shouted “for Xanax dude. For Xanax,” according to the affidavit.

Luszczki was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail, charged with criminal trespass and theft. He remains in jail.

The affidavit states that Luszczki offered different stories on what occurred including one account that he had been set up, and another that there was a drug deal going on involving bath salts.

Hannan could not be found and police obtained an arrest warrant based on the evidence included in the affidavit. He was arrested last week and made the initial court appearance Friday.

He also remained in jail Monday.
