Music and chicken festival to be held in Jackson

JACKSON, Maine — Seven bands and a chicken barbecue will be highlights of a daylong celebration held Saturday, Sept. 1, in Jackson.

The “Jackson: Alive and Kickin’ with Music and Chicken!” event will run from 2 p.m. to midnight at the Jackson Community Center. Money raised will be used to renovate the community center, described by event organizers as the heart of the small Waldo County town.

Chicken dinners cost $10 and feature two local barbecue sauces. Performers include Waylon Speed, The Rugged, Element, Alan Orcutt, Dale Hustus and the International Submarine Jug Band.
