FARMINGDALE, Maine — Police are hunting for a man who broke into a salon early Thursday morning and escaped with the cash register.

The suspect slipped into the Jungle hair salon through an open window, according to Trooper Christopher Rogers of the Maine State Police.

Rogers believes the suspect escaped on the Kennebec River Rail Trail, as the salon is close to the trail that runs from Augusta to Gardiner.

The register contained an undisclosed amount of cash, and the salon doesn’t have surveillance cameras, so police have no description of the robber.

“We’ve got nothing,” Rogers said. “It’s kind of a shot in the dark.”

The trooper is hopeful that any area residents who may have seen anything can help police in the investigation.
