Police: Man arrested for violating protection order, driving drunk

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

WATERVILLE, Maine — Police arrested a Waterville man early Wednesday morning after he violated a protection order.

Paul Meng, 36, was also under the influence of alcohol when he was driving on Water Street near his female victim’s house around 2 a.m., Waterville police Chief Joe Massey said.

The no-contact order between Meng and the woman prohibited him from being on Water Street between Moore and Grove streets, the chief said.

“He went by and hollered out something to her,” Massey said.

Meng was booked into the Waterville police station on charges of violation of a protection order and operating under the influence, Massey said.

Meng was released on $1,000 bail.
