BANGOR, Maine — Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway is partnering with Eastern Maine Community College once again for the second season of table game classes.
The “Introduction to Table Games for Dealers” course will start Monday, Sept. 17, and run through Friday, Sept. 28. Classes will be held weeknights from 6 to 10 p.m. at EMCC’s Rangeley Hall, 268 Sylvan Road in Bangor. The dates for the course and deadlines for pre-course tests have been changed due to a scheduling conflict.
All applicants must participate in a screening process that includes two math tests. Those passing the math assessments and post-test prescreening will be placed in a pool of eligible candidates for the course.
Math tests must be completed by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
“Space is limited because of the high interest we have seen from people to work in this industry,” Mike Ballesteros, EMCC’s dean of corporate and professional services, said in a press release. “We have had about 100 people successfully complete the gaming courses so far.”
Those placed in the pool of candidates will be offered admission to the blackjack course based on their evaluation and ranking from the introductory course, personal preference and space availability. The blackjack course will begin Monday, Oct. 1, and run through Friday, Oct. 26, at Rangeley Hall.
Anyone wishing to schedule a math test may call Arlene MacLeod at 974-4810.
