Cecillia Stadig

SOLDIER POND – Cecillia Stadig, 77, died Aug. 21, 2012, with her loving family at her side, at Crosswinds, Fort Kent. She was born Nov. 12, 1934, in New Canada, the daughter of Mack and Blanche (Lamarre) Deprey.

She was a 1953 graduate of Fort Kent Community High School. She married her favorite Marine, Willis Stadig, in 1954 and raised their family in the log house in Soldier Pond. Cecillia was devoted to Willis for 57 years until his death Aug. 2, 2011. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and neighbor. She will be remembered for the kind and special way she had in helping those in need in the community. She loved to collect dolls, knit, sew, travel to visit her children and their families, try new recipes and hold gatherings and cookouts at the family home. She retired from the University of Maine Co-operative Extension Service in 1994. She was the breakfast lady at Wallagrass Elementary School, as well as a Catholic education teacher at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond, and more recently loved her volunteer work at the Good Shepard thrift shop. She was an active member of les Dame de St. Anne.

Cecillia is survived by three daughters, Vicki Lizotte and her husband, Maurice, of Randolph, Sandra Stewart and her husband, John, of Fairlee, Vt., and Sydney Paul and her husband, Danny, of Covington, Ga.; three sons, Gary and his wife, Gail, of Chugiak, Alaska, Dale and his wife, Suzanne, of Davidsonville, Md., and Wendell and his wife, Linda, of Levant; 13 grandchildren, Leif Lizotte and his wife, Melissa, Melissa Lizotte, Chad Stadig and his wife, Arielle, Allison Stadig, Brook Stewart, Adam Stewart, Katie Stadig, Ryan Stadig and his wife, Kristie, Sean Stadig and his fiancée, Christa Blakeman, Danny Paul and his wife, Carmen, Erika Paul, Lily Stadig and Alisha Stadig; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Paul and Felicity Stadig; and a lovely little baby girl, Farrah Rose Stadig, to be born in September; her brother, Herman and his wife, Rena; her sisters, Priscilla Daigle and her husband, Reynold, Linda Berube and Deanna Charette and her partner, Ronnie Dumond; her brother-in-law, Gerald Desjardins; her sisters-in-law, Rita Stadig and Lorraine Stadig; her aunt, Doris Dube; several generations of beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Patsy Desjardins; her baby girl, Merie; and her brother-in-law, Miff Berube.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Committal services will be afterward at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be sent to St. John Vianney Parish for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Services are being conducted by Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
