Saco police seek burglar who took $1,000 in cigarettes, energy drinks from convenience store

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

SACO, Maine — Police are looking for a burglar who stole more than $1,000 worth of cigarettes and five-hour energy drinks from a convenience store early Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland said the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at Frodo’s on Bradley Street.

The suspect smashed a window to gain access to the store, and Officer Rachel Horning, who was on patrol in the area, heard the man slam a screen door shut when he fled, Holland said.

The man initially fled on a bicycle but went into a ditch and flipped over the handlebars, according to Holland. He continued his escape on foot, and a police K-9 tracked him to Elm Street in Biddeford but lost the scent, Holland said.

The burglar is described as a white male of medium build wearing jeans and a black shirt. Holland hopes police are able to obtain video surveillance from the store later Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone with knowledge of the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Saco police at 282-8216.
