OWLS HEAD, Maine — A 26-year-old South Thomaston man faces a variety of charges after he crashed his car Monday evening at the entrance to the Knox County Regional Airport.
Austin C. Podziewski was charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger, driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a usable amount of marijuana following the crash, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m., according to an accident report filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Podziewski was the only occupant of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala that he was driving on Ash Point Drive when he struck a utility pole at the intersection of Terminal Lane, which is the entrance to the airport.
Podziewski was injured and taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by Rockland emergency medical services. A bail commissioner was notified and went to the emergency room and bailed the suspect on unsecured bail. The suspect was kept at the hospital overnight for observation, according to Sheriff Donna Dennison.
The vehicle was destroyed. His vehicle, with New Hampshire plates, was not insured, the sheriff said.
Deputy John Hansen investigated the crash.
