BREWER, Maine — The Maine State Police have turned the investigation into the death Sunday of a 55-year-old man back over to the Brewer Police Department, Brewer police Capt. Jason Moffitt and state police Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Love confirmed Tuesday.
The investigation began early Sunday morning, when the man died while staying with family at 446 North Main St.
No new information about the death was available on Tuesday. The man’s name and hometown have yet to be released.
The investigation began about 6 a.m. Sunday, when Brewer police were called to the North Main Street apartment building where the man was staying to look into a report that the man was unresponsive and wasn’t breathing.
A state medical examiner and state police detectives were called to the scene late Sunday morning.
The man’s body was removed shortly before noon Sunday and taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta for an autopsy and toxicology testing, according to city police.
