BANGOR, Maine — A Rockwood man will spend 30 months behind bars for possessing multiple stolen firearms while under the influence of drugs.

Jerome Gordon Richards, 27, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Bangor, according to a news release U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II. Richards also received three years of supervised release.

In October 2008, Richards was found in possession of six firearms, five of which were stolen, while under the influence of heroin and cocaine, according to the release.

Testimony, witness statements and photographs during Richards’ sentencing revealed he had used one of the weapons, a Ruger .357 magnum revolver, in connecting with a felony sexual assault, the release stated.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, Waterville police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the defendant in the case. His name is Jerome Gordon Richards, not Gordon Richards.
