Guidelines for posting on bangordailynews.com

The Bangor Daily News and the Bangor Publishing Co. encourage comments about stories, but you must follow our terms of service.

  1. Keep it civil and stay on topic
  2. No vulgarity, racial slurs, name-calling or personal attacks.
  3. People who harass others or joke about tragedies will be blocked.
The primary rule here is pretty simple: Treat others with the same respect you'd want for yourself. Here are some guidelines (see more):

I feel horrible for any family members reading through those. Seriously.  We’ve lost our kindness. We’ve lost our soul. What have we become? We take the weakest in our society, we hold them up to be ridiculed, laughed at for our sport and entertainment. Laughed at to the point, where they would literally rather kill themselves than live with us anymore.

Sorry if I confused you, I’m with you. I saw your comments in the other posts as well. Very respectful and thought out. Terrible if any of the family members read through some of the ignorant comments others left in there.

i can change that any time i want

          • And I would assume that it is ok then?! Do you do anything else besides adding your idiocracies on serious news stories? A great majority of us on here are worthy of commenting and from what I can see of your posts, well, you obviously need a life! Hopefully, the admin of this site will ban your IP address and you won’t be allowed to comment again. Are you this much of a menace in the real world?

          • Some people, although living in a completely digital world, know very little about it. All sorts of tricks manage to elude them. So, they fight fair. Sucks to be them. No such thing as a fair fight.

      Peace be with you, Matt.
      You are so right.

This is what happens when we remove God from our lives. Jesus never would have treated people this way. Jesus would have educated not condemned. I agree, too much hatred in the world today. I love Jesus and he loves me. I feel great everyday knowing that and that alone.

      • Anonymous

Whether we believe in Jesus or not, when we took religion out of our schools and out of our politics, we lost our good moral standing in this world. If nothing else, Christianity teaches  how to treat others with love, kindness and respect.

        • Anonymous

Oh please…  Some of the most judgmental people I know are “Christians”.  They judge, think they are better than most everyone and are so closed minded it’s ridiculous.

          • Anonymous

I agree with you. They seldom practice what they claim to believe.

          • Anonymous

            Uh, like Bob Carlson perhaps!

        • Anonymous

Good moral standing comes from parents.  When people started not caring about being married before having children, when people started believing “I don’t need a man/woman to raise a child”….all become the norm in our society, well, the society suffers.

People should take having children, marriage MUCH more serious than they do in this country. People having kids together (but never getting married to each other) happens all the time now, divorce rates through the roof, fathers who are not in the child’s life, mothers who are not in the child’s life, etc…all contribute to society’s issues…..If you don’t know right from wrong without church and religion, you have bigger problems.

I do not believe you need religion to teach good morals/values.  Some of the biggest hypocrites I have ever seen were in church every Sunday morning.  That said, what is the norm these days for family structures is well on its way to helping with the downfall of our country.

      • Anonymous

That is so arrogant, do you know that?

      •  Are you kidding me? Of all the things I have seen you post, this has got to be some of the most idiotic. No wonder you are a raving lunatic. You’ve got God in your blood and a gun under your pillow. Dangerous combination. I dont know where you get this stuff about God and Jesus being nice guys. Here’s two quotes from the bible for you to look at (mind you, I have hundreds of similar ones saved, if you require more):

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the
God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not
seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or
great, whether man or woman.  (2 Chronicles 15:12-13)

“Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, “Follow
him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked.  Show no
mercy; have no pity!  Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little
children.  But do not touch anyone with the mark.  Begin your task right here at
the Temple.”  So they began by killing the seventy leaders.  “Defile the
Temple!” the LORD commanded.  “Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you
kill!  Go!”  So they went throughout the city and did as they were told.”  (Ezekiel
        9:5-7)

Yeah, really nice guys, God and Jesus. If you don’t follow us or do what we say or believe what we believe, we’ll kill you. Hey, that kinda sounds like the stuff you say: “Some thief breaks into my house to touch anything they get shot. That’s it. End of Story. Time to go to sleep, nighty night.”

Extremist, much? You need to relax a bit. You clearly are a very confused person. You preach compassion, then advocate supreme violence. Think Ill completely disregard everything you say from now on.

        • Anonymous

Best of luck to you in life. Read them, don’t read them, I could care less what someone with your fundamentals and lack of (well, you know) believes. As for someone breaking into my home and threatening something that is mine, correct, they will get shot period. End of story.

          • Not sure what you mean by my “fundamentals and lack of….” I assume you are saying because I do not accept your God or your views and that you believe me to be ignorant you could care less. Firstly, here is a tip, oh omniscient one: Most people who believe themselves smart, are not. Its a scientifically proven fact that roughly 80% of people believe they are smarter then they actually are. Ignorant people dont know they are ignorant. They often are sure they will do better on a test then they actually do, while intelligent people often assume they are going to do worse then they actually do. Ill leave it to you to guess which one of us is in which category. Here’s a hint: I doubt myself constantly. Every day. I am probably filled with more self-doubt then anyone you have ever met. Yet, you seem to be completely sure of your words and position. You have no doubt at all what you say is correct. That fact is reflected in the arrogance in which you write.

And then, there is this: “I could care less what someone….” I love it how people say that. Absolutely love it. Thank you so much for exposing the depths of your intelligence… So, you do in fact care what I think, then? Because if you could care LESS, that means you have to care somewhat, right? Of course, you intended to mean “I COULDNT care less”. Now, Im not sure how you got those two confused, if you are as brilliant as youd like me to believe. Pretty simple stuff, that.

Keep talking, Bushfan. Every time you do, you put your foot in your mouth. Ill happily be right here, exposing the absurdity that is your comments. Before you accuse someone of something, you best be sure you are in fact the shining idol you believe yourself to be.

And I love it how you failed to address anything I said about religion… but, I should thank you for another submission for my new book “Ad hominem’s for Dullards!” Ill be sure to send you a copy when I get it printed.

          • GiGi80

I hope you have a good editor. Your grammar and spelling are atrocious.

          • U SO FUNNY!

Where is your brilliant insight? Or can you only write two pointless sentences at a time?

I actually don’t. Could you help me out and tell me exactly what I did wrong? Because I read it several times over and couldn’t really find too much wrong with it.

But hey, really, thanks for your submission. Looks like I am giving out lots of free copies today!

    What a sad situation.

However tragic we assume these people’s lives are and what they are involved in, still 3 people lost their lives horrifically…..and maybe some little 7 year old lost her dad……how do you ever explain that to a young child who wants her dad…..so sad…..I hope god is with them now……I pray there lost souls are now found and at peace…..

    • Anonymous

You explain to that 7 year old in terms they are capable of understanding that bad things sometimes happens to people who make bad life choices.  And when that kid gets older you tell them the brutal truth.  That this is one possible price paid for a life of drugs and partying. Others and kids left alone like them.  Jail, prison, destroyed health, wasted lives, and innocent family members hurt.

      • Anonymous

As of right now, I am not aware of any definitive information that this was drug related. We live in strange times, and there are people who kill total strangers for reasons known only to them. Sometimes innocent people are attacked and killed by people after making the kind but unwise choice to give a ride to someone who appeared to need one. Unless you know something the police don’t, in which case you should inform them of what you know, please try to refrain from drawing conclusions that go beyond what is known at this point.

        • Anonymous

Lets just call it “lifestyle related” then.

  • Anonymous

Parents need to PARENT, teach kids right from wrong, watch who they hang out with, no where they are at all times, monitor their Facebook, their text messages. Yes, these are different times than when I grew up, but come on people. What the hell is the world coming to!!! Yes, I understand that divorce has run rampant and there are many mothers and fathers raising kids on their own. Hell, I am divorced, but I know and know who my son hangs with, what he is doing and doing it with.
I know I will get negative comments from people or claim I do not know everything about my son and what he does and on and on, but I am going above and beyond to do what I can to raise a man, not a thug!

    • Anonymous

You’d better watch out when you post about parenting and the need to do so…I posted on a story recently and some nslewis was attacking me all over the place and now he is following my posts — kinda creepy!  You might have just got yourself a new BDN stalker with your parenting comments — and good day nslewis as I know your reading my every post!

Any loss of life is sad no matter who or the circumstances. People have lost loved ones. Feel bad for the surviving members of these families.

    • Jne

Does it make the city safer? Are there less drug users around? Not every type of death is a tragedy, especially when similar types of people who perpetrated the crime will be going to prison.  That’s at least 4 individuals removed from the circle of crime, which is a blessing to the city, not a sad time for the city.

You just dont know it… Let me explain: If you were THAT proud of yourself and your actions, you wouldn’t hide any details, like what you look like and where you live, but, you do. So using your real name (and exclaiming pride in yourself and your actions) is pointless because no-one knows who you actually are. How many Mike Connor’s you think there are, bud?

kris i agree i do not understand what this has to do with food stamps or welfare. some people are actually on it cause they need it and dont abuse it!

    • Being a single parent doesnt always mean your on footstamps. Not sure why people care if someone is on welfare or not? that is not the point here.  what about finding out who these people are an how this car cought on fire??? That is what I would want to know.

Really? You need to contact LE immediately with all you know about this case! How long did it take you to solve or do you have an inside source?…I love how people like you sit at your pc and post ridiculously presumtive comments about a tragic event you know nothing about! These poor souls are someones family member. My heart goes out to them all! Oh, and your screen name reflects just how high and mighty you think you are…Get a grip!

speculation…your comment has been flagged for review, dhs has been alerted and children(s) will be removed from home tomorrow 3am

  • Don’t you love it how people like to BLAME victims??? HONESTLY, regardless of the victims activities, burning to death in a car is brutal and sad, and Mr./Ms Reckoning I hope you have a clear and blameless past, You are throwing a lot of stoness.

    • Jne

They didn’t burn to death in a car. Do you think the car caught on fire, and these 3 people said, “Oh no, how can we get out? The doors are locked, we’ll just sit in here and burn!”

There were killed prior to being brought to the burn location, obviously.

  • Simply Kris, people are idiots and want to blame everything on a victim.

  • Guest

Yeah right….and they live their own lives and only talk on the phone once in a while!Yet she texted him at 2am….she obviously know a little something about this!

    • Jne

I know, right? She talked to him occasionally, yet his gf called her because she knows “they talk,” she’d texted him at 2 AM, she assumed he was asleep or his phone was dead after 2 AM…. that’s a lot of communication for talking only “once in a while.”

  • This is awful! I couldn’t even begin to know how that young lady is feeling right now! Whoever did this needs to be caught, this is a VERY sick and heinous crime! And to the people writing about foodstamps/welfare, shame on you! How could you even begin to think of something like that after seeing what happened here?! I guess their right about people who have no empathy, psychotic!

  • What about the food stamps????

  • Al Brady

its a secret that the both the city and the newspaper don’t want to be
known publicly. If my post gets deleted (and I do at times write jocular
comments – this not being one of them I understand why I’m flagged) its
because they don’t want it known.

In 2008 I was a student at Husson University where one of my professors
took our class on a “field trip” to meet then mayor/city manager Susan
Hawes (I think thats what her name was). As part of the class we had to
come up questions in a journalistic view. One of my classmates put the
question to the city manager/mayor why (at that time compared to now its
more poignant) there was an increase of crime. The answer from her was:

The city gets what is essentially “kickbacks” from the federal and state
governments, private and public programs, and other sources to “accept”
more homeless, addicts, criminals, mentally challenged and other ‘bad
seeds’ such as funding for city projects – like the waterfront, and
downtown revitalization and police force enlargement among other things.

I use the term “accept” these people by evidence of the opening of
homeless shelters, the allowing of panhandling and homeless sleeping in
city parks, methadone clinics, and offerings to other people who have
disabilities or in effect allowing people to stay here and giving them
‘free roam’ of the city. I don’t know what the current policy is but I
do know that they advertised it and in many other cities Bangor has sunk
its teeth into getting people who have issues like these to come here
    for the benefits.

I don’t know about you or anyone else but I think its time for the city
to stop allowing people to have ‘free roam.’ Granted its not an
overnight thing but more patrols in seedy areas such as Capehart, Outer
Hammond Street, Pickering Square and in general other unsafe areas are
needed. Arrest or at least detain panhandlers on stillwater avenue – I
went there today and I counted 6 of them up and down the street. Arrest
or at least “move along” homeless from city parks and recreational areas
    – theres no reason for kids – hell even adults like ourselves to be
exposed to it. Patrol the homeless shelter and the park nearby – as much
drug dealing, and other crimes are in that area. THere are more murders
in Bangor on Main Street from the Main Street Tavern to Manna
Ministries than in the entire city.

Bangor needs to clean up its mess – and again I’m sorry if this gets
deleted because bangor doesn’t want this to be known. But I am pleading
with you to change the course. I have a hard time coming to bangor and
seeing what it has become. And one more other thing – squash the lolipop
guild gang before it expands. If you don’t know what I mean take a look
at the graffiti up and down and all around town!

  • Anonymous

It doesn’t matter who was on welfare, who got food stamps. It is sad that this happened, sad that this type of crime has finally reached Bangor. This is classic drug crime, & for those who are horrified at the fire, most of the time the “victims” are already dead when the vehicle is torched- the fire is set to keep evidence at bay & to send a message. As I said in another post, this is done in the larger cities frequently. The drug business is a serious one to these people that engage in this kind of thing.
